Angola has a total installed capacity of 2 178 MW while peak demand is 1 653 MW. Hydroelectric plants generate over two thirds of Angola's electricity. Angola has 23 power stations, of which 15 are hydroelectric. Among the 23 power stations are 4 diesel plants, 3 diesel/gas turbine plants, and one thermal plant.

Power Stations
- Luanda Open Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station is located at Luanda with a capacity of 148 MW. It is operated by Empresa Nacional de Electricidade .
- Cabinda (Malemba) Open Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station in Cabinda has an installed capacity of 70 MW which has been increased to 170 MW.
- Chibodo Power Plant in Cabinad has a capacity of 30 MW.
- Lubango thermal power station has an installed production capacity of 35 MW
- Arimba thermal power plant has an installed capacity of 40 MW
Hydroelectric
Power Stations
- Cambambe Hydroelectric PowerStation is on the Kwanza River on the border of the Cuanza Norte and Bengo provinces in Angola. It has a power generating capacity of 180 MW.
- Capanda HydroelectricPower Station is on the Kwanza River in Malanje Province with an installed capacity of 520 MW
- The Matala Hydroelectric PowerStation in the Huila Province has a capacity of 40 MW.
- GoveHydroelecric Power Station on the Kunene River has an installed capacity of 60 MW.
- Laúca Hydroelecrtic Powerstation with a capacity of 2 067 MW , in Angola’s Kwanza river, is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2017.
